Athens Golden Age Tour | Acropolis and Museum
First thing once in Athens is the most famous monument , the Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum opposite, inaugurated in 2009.
Take the metro from wherever you are such as from the port of Piraeus or the Athens Airport and get off at the metro station Acropolis.
There I can show you the treasures found in the area exhibited in the museum, explain all the history and tell you a lot about ancient life but also modern life there, as we also have the chance to enjoy a panorama of the city from the upper Parthenon Gallery.
This visit takes up to two hours and is the most important one, because it is accessible to all ages and physical conditions.
After this impressive museum visit, we can proceed to the actual Acropolis hill, the number one classical monument of the world dating to the 5th century BC.
This gives us the chance to enjoy breath taking views of the whole city, including the ancient Agora at the foot of the hill which was the birthplace of Democracy and political center of Athens, as well as the old town Plaka down below, where you can continue on your own after the end of our tour.
So, the sights include the Roman Odeion on the slope of the hill, the ruins of the Dionysos theater, the Plaka district, the Areopag Hill, the Philoppapos Hill, all to be enjoyed from the acropolis, and of course to be visited with the same ticket which is valid for four days.
The above mentioned Acropolis Museum has a separate ticket, 5 euro per person, the ancient sites of Athens including the acropolis and the above mentioned sites costs 12 euro.
